Daphne's - 112 Draycott Avenue SW3 3AE
Tatler Restaurant Guide 2011
Daphne's may have been around for nearly half a century but it is a real jewel in Richard Caring's crown. The room at the front and the conservatory behind are immaculate: the snowiest linen, the sparkliest glasses. The food is always, but always, good - pappardelle with wild boar ragu, a classic veal chop with chips. Bring your fur, bring your Peke, bring your bestie, bring your builder. This is where Shakira Caine comes with the girls, and Joan Collins comes with the boys. Boris Becker comes with just about anyone - he loves it here. Daphne's is great and will see us all off.
“Movers and shakers are in abundance” at this “iconic” Chelsea Italian that’s “still a favourite with the local gentry” for its “consistent”, “classic” fare served by a “gracious” crew in an “elegant contemporary” setting; however, some say the people-watching is “better than the food”, and you’ll need “lots of money” to settle the bill.
You just feel so relaxed, a this perfect upmarket Italian near Brompton Cross (which has greatly improved since the Caprice Group took it over a few years ago) - service is extremely courteous and there's nothing to fault the reliable cooking.
